Lifestyle Advice
Just because you don't feel sick, does not mean you feel as great as you could. Far too many people wait until they are sick to find a chiropractic clinic in Denver NC. It is common in our culture to accept a slow decline in health as we age, but it is also unnecessary. We now have information and the advances in the field of health and wellness to live a life of optimal health which, contrary to popular belief, can actually get better as we grow older. This article will walk you through some of the common beliefs about health and discusses how chiropractic medicine can be an important part of your preventative care plan.
How Lifestyle Affects Overall Wellness in Denver NC
We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each patient is a whole person. It is our goal to help them reach true health and wellness via a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.
Corrective Exercises
We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use.
Therapeutic Exercise
Chiropractors commonly prescribe specific strengthening exercises for their patients with whiplash, low back pain, neck pain, and leg pain. These exercises can decrease pain, prevent muscle deterioration, promote joint health, increase strength, stability and range of motion, and protect against new or recurring injuries. Our Denver NC area chiropractors will perform these exercises with you one on one.
Therapeutic Stretches
Following an injury, therapeutic stretching is an important way to prevent scar tissue from forming. Even after the injury has healed, maintaining a regular stretching program helps keep tissues flexible, increases mobility, and protects you from new injuries. Like exercise, your chiropractor will instruct you on proper stretching techniques and will supervise you until you are comfortable enough to do them on your own.
Traction
Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Traction is a therapeutic method of pain relief that uses forces to treat muscular and skeletal disorders, compressed nerves, injuries to joints, vertebral muscles and decompresses the intervertebral discs. Traction tables apply intermittent traction that provide decompressive forces which helps relieve direct nerve pressure and stress on vertebral discs and surrounding tissue, while increasing vascular and lymphatic flow, increased muscle tone and balance.
One of our treatments we offer at Spine Chiropractic is the Spinolator: This is a tractionmassage roller table, the patient lies face up with a pillow under the knees. A system of rollers then moves up and down the spine, gently stretching and massaging the muscles of the back.
The tractioning or distraction of the disc combined with isolation and gentle pumping of the involved area allows the central area of the disc, the nucleus pulposus, to assume its central position in the disc. These actions move the disc away from the nerve, reducing inflammation of the nerve root, and eventually the associated pain and inflammation into the leg.
Spinal & Postural Screenings
Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being. We provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment. Contact us today to arrange a screening at your event or workplace.
Digital X-Ray
Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also, less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.
Digital Radiography (DR) or (DX) is essentially filmless X-ray image capture. In place of X-ray film, a digital image capture device is used to record the X-ray image and make it available as a digital file that can be presented for interpretation and saved as part of the patient’s medical record. The advantages of DR over film include immediate image preview and availability, a wider dynamic range which makes it more forgiving for over-and under-exposure as well as the ability to apply special image processing techniques that enhance the overall display of the image.
At Spine Chiropractic we feel it is very important to have the digital X-ray machine to help us determine the cause of your pain. If we see something that is questionable on your x-rays we will send your films out for a second opinion by a Radiologist.
